Welcome to Little Nature Players.
We are a blog, marketplace and hub for all things nature play. This is your place to find ideas and inspiration to encourage your children to play and learn outside and connect with the natural world. A place full of carefully curated educational resources, books and toys to ignite your little one’s love for learning and the environment.
My name is Tilly. I am a Mum to two little nature players and a Junior Primary School Teacher. I am passionate about helping children connect with the natural world and fostering the development of independent, balanced little learners.
In 2016 I created an Instagram account called Tilly Teacher to share simple educational play ideas I was doing with my son. In the classroom I was constantly coming up with new and creative ideas to engage children and spark a curiosity for learning. During my maternity leave I quickly discovered that I couldn’t just turn that off. So I created my account as means to fuel my creativity, while fulfilling my passion for helping kids learn.
Before I became a Mother, teaching children in their first few years of schooling was my expertise. I knew how to teach children to read and write and how they learn. I knew how to teach them to become successful learners and balanced little humans. I didn’t know much about babies and toddlers so as new mothers do, I began to read more about the developmental milestones of my baby. I kept stumbling upon the importance of movement and the benefits of spending time in nature. Not just for babies and toddlers but for all learners. The more I read, the more it made sense. I started spending more time outdoors and implementing changes in my day to day life and in my classroom. So much so, that my family and I packed up our house and set off in a caravan for 7 months to spend quality time together experiencing the joys of nature. The benefits of nature play and slowing down are hard to ignore. The happiness, the curiosity, the engagement and the calm…
Fast forward three years and that is how Little Nature Players has come to be. We are home from our caravan adventure now with a different perspective and a goal to help and inspire your Little Nature Players to spend time learning and playing in nature too.
